Cheer 2008 (Part 2)

This is the last part of Cheer 2008, sorry for the delay I know I’ve been a lazy bum and never thought that it would take me almost forever to just review pictures and frame them up. Lesson learned, snapping like there’s no tommorow brings pain when reviewing.

Sad to say the second day wasn’t really my day as there were flocks or swarms or schools or er…watever tons of photographers hogging up the area around the er..center stage?arena? So yea..what I’m trying to say is that because of my small size and my not so thick skin I wasn’t able to get a good spot to get pictures at the best angle.

What I have to say is that it was really an energetic day for most of the cheerleaders and the crowd was superb, not only supportive but you could feel the energy coming from them as they were cheering. It was a good sight to see good sportsmanship as there were no ‘boos’ or any sort of mocking.

If not wrong his name is Micheal or something..one of the judge.

Sniping at Madam Kwan

So last week we were “celebrating” the last day with one of our trainer at Madam Kwan KLCC. I was told to bring my camera along..and guess what I spotted

Actually…didn’t really notice her at first..till I put on my zoom lens…my colleagues and me find her pretty and with the light shining down on her face..its almost…er..angelic.

Sniping is fun…! maybe I should start bringing my camera around where ever I go. Then again..it’s too inconvenient.

Vividly beautiful

So I was waiting for a friend the other day and notice there some flowers at the side of the road. Never really took much pictures of flowers, actually never did take any pictures of any flower. Canon has this picture style thing which is really nice. I use the “clear” picture style for the following pictures and they give a really vivid color to the flowers. I personally love the color, some may say its too vivid, but hey…its flowers..isn’t it suppose to strike out its colors? And who says kit lens suck? I don’t see any problems with these pictures…do you? lens use for the following pictures: Canon EF-S 18-55mm

Cheer 2008 (Part 1)

Went to Bukit Jalil today..or yesterday to be exact for Cheer 2008, it was quite an eye opener to see soooo many GUYS! as in ALL guys team. WoW..are they gay?or has the image of cheerleaders change in schools these days? I mean if you are a cheerleader in a all guys school…hmmm won’t you be like the laughing stock of the whole class or something? I mean..in guys school its all about the macho-ism and manly actions and the pride and ego..and etc. Oh well it good though to see the sport growing.

I usually do not edit my pictures, but these has been slightly touched up. No cropping or anything but just color/contrast adjustments as I do not have a flash gun and the shoots were a lil dark. Plus it was indoors so not much help from Mr Sun.

Check out what is she reading…must be real bored or just can’t wait to get married..haha..shes quite pretty though. I think la…I know a lot would disagree with my taste for girls.

Lookout Point visit

This post is a lil late, as I lost my mood to even look at my pictures. They didn’t turn out near “ok” standards..but here it is anyways, Lookout Point Take 1. Will be going back there again for better shots. Or maybe will keep going till I get what I want. Oh yea this outing was last Saturday (5th July 2008)

So I was there with a bunch of photogs, but more accurately I was there with Valiant early. Surprisingly theres quite a variety of food there. We then sat at gasoline…waiting for the sun to set and for the others from facebook to arrive.

This is one of those earlier shots I took. Figured I try to use the trees as framing..some sort. Nice ar?

Sun almost setting already.

here’s how the place look like, roughly. Pretty pleasant environment if you ask me. If it was only a lil less noisy it would be a good place to bring you love ones for a date.

Sun finally sets..I was a little late…only manage to get this shot. Plus really cloudy weather so couldn’t have a decent picture.

It may not be the perfect sharp picture..but i love the tone of the sky

Sharpest picture I have..but not quite up to standard.

My one and only attempt to do this …quite ok la…not tat bad rite?hah…also battery died early that day..most shots were done with Valiant’s battery. Thanks man.

Spot the tire?

So 2 days back I was driving to work, a car pass by me and took my attention…check out its front wheels man. Don’t really spot anything?

Here’s a close up…SEE how close the tyre is to the er..whachamecallit…body thingy. Not only that but if it wasn’t moving and cutting lanes that fast the tires are not entirely straight at all..its like tilted 95 degrees or something..how on earth does one with a right mind wan to make their car that way? Whats the logic behind it? Faster?better traction? I’m no car expert but isn’t that bad for the tires?

It’s fun to see what people have done to their cars on the road..very entertaining especially when you are stuck in a jam.

Outing with LYN peeps

Last Sunday (6th July 2008) there was an outing to Kota Kemuning for a photo shoot which was themed Girls In School Uniform. I’m quite disappointed with my pictures I have to say, I don’t know what got in my hard headed head. I set my aperture so small that most of my portraits become somewhat like landscape shots. There was barely any depth of field, argh…this frustrates me as I can’t retake those shots again.

Folder Numbering Changes

Just last weekend I found out that the folder in the CF card could be screwed up if you lend someone your CF card to be viewed on their camera. What I find stupid bout it is that, why on earth is the folder numbering change when you don’t even take any pictures?

Anyways in case you’re like me, I didn’t have a CF card reader before this so I wasn’t aware of this folder thing. But because I was too disturb and was told bout this issue I had to spend RM30 today to get a cheap looking card reader. JUST for the sake of trying out this solution which is to solve this numbering problem.

Ok so if you view your CF card in a card viewer you will most likely see a folder called DCIM then inside it will have folders like 100, 101 … etc. BUT if you share your card with someone else..and it was being inserted in his camera which has a “continuous numbering” as a setting for his pictures. You will then most likely get a leap or a jump in your folder numbering..which will be like 101, 998, … etc

Ok I know this isn’t my technical blog but it’s good to know a little more right? SO…the long awaited solution. Which is pretty easy

1. You would need a CF card reader..else no solution.

2. Format your card on your COMPUTER. NOT! i repeat.. NOT your camera.

3. DO NOT INSERT your card in to your camera yet. Change the numbering settings on your camera to “Auto Reset”. This I would assume varies from camera to camera. So check your manual.

4. Insert your card back..and walla! you are done.

Downside to this..if you are those that love or rely on your picture numbering to tell you your shutter count..sorry. This sets your picture to 001 again.

There was an alternative way, which I did not try. It was something like formating your CF card on your camera, but have a second CF card which has some data or picture in it..then something something…not too sure..not gonna try it too..Not intending to buy another CF card yet.

Anyways I hope this helps..good luck trying.
