Posted up this set of pictures some time ago but didn’t manage to blog bout it due to my pc misbehaving. I’m finally done installing my new pc..and hopefully this windows 64 bit works fine. If not wrong it was fashion week or something here in KL and there were a number of malls with fashion shows. I happen to catch this one on the 24th April. Kinda made the decision to go last minute so I didn’t have any pass to get a spot at the platform.
Before the fashion show started I was wondering how’s this lingerie fashion show gonna be since it’s a public event and there were plenty of underage kids around…nonetheless, I’m quite impress and satisfied with the idea of covering enough of the model and not reveal too much. Oh and I have to say…they were drop dead gorgeous…love most of them.

she’s sooo cute
hair wash, hair wash!
it’s a little blur but it was a good moment…flirty model but I like! I think overall she was the one with the most cheerful face.
somehow this reminds me of that show devil wears prada or something
Finally went through the sets of pictures the night before…and I don’t know if my taste is getting higher or am I just paranoid with my pictures but I find most of it do not fit my liking. I want pictures that are sharp and good or atleast acceptable in composition. I took the most pictures from this fashion show also thrown away the most pictures. Thanks to one real ignorant/selfish and urgh..god knows what person who was standing infront of me blocking my shots most of the time. I have tons of shots of him moving infront of my lens or having his flash infront of my lens. I’ve already told him to not blocked me but I guess he’s too smart to comprehen. I guess these are the challenges one would face taking pictures as a non official photographer in public places, then again I’m sure the pressure is alot more on the official photographer.
I was there for the 2 session of fashion show which was the Salabianca & Philosophy - MEN and Chinatown Classics.
Took these shots on the 18 January, way back before Chinese New Year. If you’ve been reading my blog frequently again you’ll notice I always delay posting up my pictures. Reason wise it’s because my hardisk is currently very critical on disk space. I have to seriously learn to organize my file or get a new one.
There were two shows on that day which I took, one was the acrobatics and the other was the 24 Season drum which was why I was there. But to my disappointment the drum show was very short and as for the acrobatics, I didn’t really manage to get much good shots as there were too many people in front of me. I guess I cannot do event photography due to my physical limitation =S.
16 year old girl balancing an adult man in a big barrel/pot. According to them there’s a total of 200 over KG in weight. How sure? not sure…
I failed to find time to have another shooting for Chinese New Year due to work but I manage to shoot something that is related to it. I would like to take this chance to wish those that lurk around my site and wish them a Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year, May this year be a better year for all of us.
this shot was taken yesterday in 1 Utama when I was having my new year shopping.
Had abit of time to do some editing at work…and was playing around with the curves and stuff…came up with this..may seem a lil over saturated..but I guess that’s my whole point here..its either you like it or not.
So I was at Midvalley today as there was another fashion show..this time for Chinese New Year…
To my dissapointment…somehow I’m not getting enough with my Sigma 24-70mm, or maybe it’s my shooting technique. I tend to feel my pictures are not sharp enough. Something is wrong somewhere and I’m yet to find out..overall I love the second session which was the Chinatown Classic, maybe I’m a sucker for cheong sam and traditional clothes but yea..I really do like it, compared to the first session which was Salabianca & Philosophy - MEN, which wasn’t a men fashion show..hmm…I wonder whats the MEN there for?
Anyways for starters here 1 picture I just edited.which is basically a cut and paste from 1 picture to another..nothing fancy.
Here’s more pictures of day 2…I was only there for 1 session though, pictures from NICHII set
I think I’m alot more happier with day 2 pics as I’m a lil more familiar with the camera. I also realize my mistake in using one shot mode instead of ai servo.
There’s this Christmas Fashion show at Midvalley during the weekend..and fortunately I’ m off this time. Been missing lots of events due to my new working schedule. Here’s the rough schedule on what happened that day
6 Dec 2008
1pm - Fashion Show by Elle
3pm - Fashion Show by Phenomenal
5pm - Fashion Show by Eclipse
7pm - Hair Show by La’Mode
7 Dec 2008
1pm - Fashion Show by The Mod House
3pm - Fashion Show by NICHII
5pm - Fashion Show by Treats
7pm - Fashion Show by Girls
It was a good chance for me to test my 50D ability..and to my suprise. The high ISO bump was really good. Along with using the “strong” noise reduction option the noise was even less obvious. Comparing to the Nikon D90 at ISO 1600 I would say my ISO 2000 was alot better. Deny as you may Nikon users but this 50D is definately better then D90. Reason I’m saying this is because some brand bias dude was telling me that the D90 beats Canon 50D flat out..which didn’t really show so when I saw his pictures in his LCD.
I’m no fan boy but the fact is showing. Anyways… I only shot two session on Saturday which was the Phenomenal and Eclipse, oh yea.. I did take a few shots of the Hair show and then went off.
Shots of the Phenomenal set
My two favorite girls of the days. Would definitely love to know their names…anyone?
Shots from the Eclipse set
Last but not least for the Saturday’s shot…my flash batt died..so I had to improvise..and I thought it would be fun to do some panning
This is a really long awaited and delayed post. Sorry for the delay…as usual This event was held in Orange Club this time on the 27 September 2008. This time the guest artist was Shayne Ward, Until June and The D.E.Y. The last Hennessy event I didn’t manage to catch any of the performances inside but this time I got more shots of the performances…and I have to say it wasn’t an easy task for me. Being someone who’s physically small in size and trying to squeeze through a crowd to get to the front and yet trying to avoid people hitting on to my camera…I’m guessing events and fashion shows are for bigger and taller people
Anyways..less talk from me, let my pictures do the talking.

Then came some VIP’s

The D.E.Y

Then came the performance.
I like the flare effect.
I waited so long for this shot
and ofcourse there were lots of pretty/hot girls too..
Basically I enjoyed myself but wasn’t too happy with most of the pictures. It’s good practice though..hopefully in future I’ll be able to shoot at the next Hennessy Artistry.
Was at Mid Valley today with some photographers for this fashion show with a very unique runway. The event started at 12pm and will be goin on till about 6pm. I was there only for the last 2 session which was from Bonia and T-joue.
The lightings were bad for this 1 as the spotlight kept moving around and the models didn’t really stop long enough when they are posing. Plus there wasn’t really enough lightings and I had no external flash, relying on the body flash alone was quite a challenge. It’s a good training for me though, anyways I tried to make or at least think that the shadows would be a good composition for the picture…maybe some feedback on it would help me.
Now for people who says I only take picture of girls…you are sooo wrong now
I like this girl, don’t know why
I KNOW! her fingers! argh….wasted
ofcourse…lastly this.
most of the picture didn’t really turn out right. I’m considering a 3rd party flash as an alternative now. Seems like I’m needing a lot of flash in my pictures. Will have to do some money calculating now…sigh.
