If I recall correctly we planned this photo walk a month or two back back where we photographer would go for a trip and take portrait pictures of each other since we are always taking pictures for people there wasn’t any one who would do the same for us. So Edwin set the date and the rest just came if they could. It was more of a casual and relax thing for most of us as we weren’t working with out camera’s. Here are my favorite shots from the outing.

I have to say the next picture gives me a nostalgic feeling as Genting Highlands was one of those places where every parent would bring their kid and yet they would have a fuzzy memory of the place. I remember over enjoying myself till I would get nightmares at night…hehe and this old building would always have a place in my mind.

Butterfly Farm

March 30, 2009

A continuation from my previous post here. My shots on some butterfly and other stuff with a Canon 100mm Macro and a Sigma 150mm macro lens. I’ve also came to respect these macro shooters as they really need super steady hands to do these shots. It was easy and all at first but after 4 hours or more…you can really feel you hands not listening to you.

hello world!

It seems that the colorful butterflies don’t quite like taking pictures and the ones which has dark colors love to..reason said is because they seem to keep flying whenever you are near and the black ones wont move at all no matter how near you approach it.

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park

March 23, 2009

Finally I’ve cleaned up some hardisk space so that I am able to process/resize some of my pictures. I know this has been on hold for really long. January 19 till today… man am I good in procrastinating. Anyways since we’re still on the topic of birds…let me take this opportunity to share some pictures of more birds.

On Monday 19 January 2009,  I have to say it was really not wise to leave the house at 7am to butterfly farm and bird park, not only because its a working day but also because it was not too long when school just started…got stuck in a massive traffic jam but at the end of the day… It was almost well worth it, as I’ve discovered some new things on my camera :)

I didn’t know Canon would make wild life look so good. I knew about their more “reddish” color, but I didn’t know it affected blue, green as well..well maybe not as red as er..red..but yea..I’m not too sure how to say it but it does show a different compared to the other camera’s that I’m looking at.

So here’s a preview of a caterpillar I shot in the bird park, taken by a macro lens. Sigma 150mm to be exact. I’ve also learned that macro is not at all easy..keeping my hands till on such a tiny lil thing is no easy task..especially when you’re been shooting for hours.

Here’s a couple of pics from the bird park…see what I mean about the colors? These pictures are not edited in any single way, only resized and watermarked.

I love this shot…more coming up when I’m done processing the fashion show shots 1st.

Last Saturday Shutter Asia forum a competition called Tak Nak Chimping. This competition has been going on in Penang most of the time and this is the 1st time it’s in KL and will be held in Lake Gardens. Basically the rules of the competition are;

1. No chimping (or reviewing) your shots. LCD screen must be covered.
2. Maximum of 36 shots. No deletion.
3. Only one prime lens allowed. Zoom lens must be fixed at certain focal length.
4. No flash allowed.
5. Tripod is allowed.

addition to that, all pictures has to be taken in Manual mode and fixed ISO. I thin, the idea of the competition is to train photographers to be more confident with their shots and not always “chimp” after taking their shots. Yes this is the digital age but maybe because it is..most of use are snapping 1 shot and then looking again then snapping again. This action is called “chimping”. If you look at how chimpanzee act when they have something in their hands it pretty much looks like how a photographer is uuuhhhh-ing and ahhhh-ing at his pictures after a shot.

The theme for the day was “garden’s party” which I had no idea how to interprete it..besides thinking anything that comes in a bunch could be a party. A party of flowers? a party of ants? though grammatically its not right. But at the end, I just snapped anything I felt was nice

taknakchimp01_kl0005

taknakchimp01_kl0001

taknakchimp01_kl0004
very very BIG hibiscus

taknakchimp01_kl0007
goose having a party?

taknakchimp01_kl0006
birds party?

as you can see there wasn’t much to shoot..so I submitted this picture as my chosen one
taknakchimp01_kl0008
reason I chose this picture is because it shows that there was something that happened here…but it’s over..or you could say theres a party and in parties there would sure to be lots of trash, especially drinks.

*note: All pictures above are not edited in any sort of manner, No adjustment in contrast, saturation or even change of picture style. Basically it’s what you get from the camera.

and after the competition…I snapped this girl, I somehow like the feeling of it. So I edited it a little, nice?

Lookout Point visit

July 11, 2008

This post is a lil late, as I lost my mood to even look at my pictures. They didn’t turn out near “ok” standards..but here it is anyways, Lookout Point Take 1. Will be going back there again for better shots. Or maybe will keep going till I get what I want. Oh yea this outing was last Saturday (5th July 2008)

gasoline

So I was there with a bunch of photogs, but more accurately I was there with Valiant early. Surprisingly theres quite a variety of food there. We then sat at gasoline…waiting for the sun to set and for the others from facebook to arrive.

lpoint01

This is one of those earlier shots I took. Figured I try to use the trees as framing..some sort. Nice ar?

lpoint02

Sun almost setting already.

lpoint03

here’s how the place look like, roughly. Pretty pleasant environment if you ask me. If it was only a lil less noisy it would be a good place to bring you love ones for a date.

lpoint04

Sun finally sets..I was a little late…only manage to get this shot. Plus really cloudy weather so couldn’t have a decent picture.

lpoint05

It may not be the perfect sharp picture..but i love the tone of the sky

lpoint06

Sharpest picture I have..but not quite up to standard.

lpoint07

My one and only attempt to do this …quite ok la…not tat bad rite?hah…also battery died early that day..most shots were done with Valiant’s battery. Thanks man.

Outing with LYN peeps

July 9, 2008

Last Sunday (6th July 2008) there was an outing to Kota Kemuning for a photo shoot which was themed Girls In School Uniform. I’m quite disappointed with my pictures I have to say, I don’t know what got in my hard headed head. I set my aperture so small that most of my portraits become somewhat like landscape shots. There was barely any depth of field, argh…this frustrates me as I can’t retake those shots again.

Anyways here’s the ugly shots…

As for the Judo tournament..nothing much to show as the competition itself was real crap. Kids these days are so lack of disipline and it so clearly reflects back on their Sensei. Clothes and all are not tugged in properly and the fighting style looks so much like a lousy street fight. So I’ll spare all you of from the eye soring pics.

Busy outing day (Part 1)

June 29, 2008

Lots of events today, Tamron had something going on, Low Yat Forumers had 2 outings. One at Bukit Jalil and the other is at the butterfly part. I initially only plan to go to Bukit Jalil to have a look and then proceed to the dog’s Olympics at 1Utama. But when I was there, it rained and so I was forced to stay for a while..and also ended up taking some shots. The initial plan was to go pick up my bean bag from Ian at Bukit Jalil then to 1U for the dog’s Olympics then to Cheras Leisure Mall for the Judo competition.

Anyways,…here some of the pictures I took. I didn’t really participate in the shooting as I was more fascinated with the hut/house we were taking shelter in..but none of the pics turn out the way I wanted it. Also most of the pictures were too exposed at some area. As I thought having flashes around me would help me in someways but also make my shots a lot harder to take as some shots would turn out too bright.

Xin Hui, one of the models who was there. Though I wasn’t really taking pictures of her when I was there, I was watching her on and off and couldn’t help but notice that she really know how to pose…or should I say..she really has a lot of posses in stock.

I love her eyes, she has very er…expressive eyes, I’m not sure if its just me or its just me..but I really love the emotion she shows in her eyes. Sadly this is the best shot I have of her..could have been a lil more hardworking and move closer to take a better picture.
