If I recall correctly we planned this photo walk a month or two back back where we photographer would go for a trip and take portrait pictures of each other since we are always taking pictures for people there wasn’t any one who would do the same for us. So Edwin set the date and the rest just came if they could. It was more of a casual and relax thing for most of us as we weren’t working with out camera’s. Here are my favorite shots from the outing.

I have to say the next picture gives me a nostalgic feeling as Genting Highlands was one of those places where every parent would bring their kid and yet they would have a fuzzy memory of the place. I remember over enjoying myself till I would get nightmares at night…hehe and this old building would always have a place in my mind.

I’ve been searching this baby for quite a while now and most places I find would charge me quite an expensive price for a poorly maintained body. Finally I found this near mint condition Canon AE-1. Some people ask me why am I going backwards instead of forward with the latest BIG megapixel camera and all, well it’s a pretty simple answer… I’m curious and I would love to dig down deeper into the roots of photography to actually know the difference (the not so obvious ones) and go through the pain of missing shots and having to spend money on film.

The camera built is awesome, really feels tough and quite heavy for its size. It’s fully metal I think? Not sure what material was use for its “metal” areas. For a camera that was made in 1971, this condition is awesome, not to mention the metering still works. Here are some pictures of the camera I would like to share with you guys out there. Oh yea.. I’ve finally made the mode to a full frame camera… :P just that it’s in analog format not digital…haha

my new name card

June 14, 2010

I’ve not been giving out my name cards since the 1st batch of print was all depleted reason cos the 2nd batch had some printing errors and all. I’m not really a very picky person nor am I a really fussy person (i think) but yea..giving a card which I wasn’t even proud of was really not something I would do so  I would tell people I ran out of cards, which is partially the truth.

So over the weekend I got my new stock of cards and boy am I happy with it..Patrick from My Colorful Memories did a wonderful job and not to mention gave me a really good quality card. So here’s my chance to show off a lil my new card :D

Do ask me for one when you see me :D

Charge Up 2010

January 17, 2010

Over the week I signed up for a photography conference called Charge Up, organize by live wire media. It’s a 4 day conference but due to some unforeseen issues I only manage to attend the 2 days, the 3rd day we were given as task/project and would work in a group to come up with a montage for certain NGO/Ministry. Sadly I wasn’t able to join the rest of my new friends there and since I was home all night, I decided to make this lil montage. Please don’t take this montage seriously as it’s meant to be a joke. :P Just to have some fun…since I missed the event.
Enjoy the montage yea!

A New Year Resolution

December 31, 2009

It’s almost the end of the year now, and it’s been one year and a half year since I started photography and owning my 1st ever camera. It’s been a fantastic journey so far. I’ve learn how to be a better person, make new friends…amazing friends, and not only have I get paid doing what I like, I get to make people happy with what I do. Besides that I’ve also got blessed with opportunities to shoot with people who I’ve admire from reading their blogs, Jenny Sun, Patrick Low, Edwin Tan and Andy Chin. This all would have been possible if it wasn’t for Grace Tan from Wedding Story and Alex Lam from Integricity and the team of people behind Shootfest. I’d believe that my journey would not have been boosted forward without this event and therefore I do owe you guys as well.

I started out learning my photography from forums and the internet, but with the guidance of my new found friends sight and perception with details and things around has changed. I’m not sure how exactly to put things in to words but I do sense the difference from what I see now when I walk around.

Besides meeting a whole bunch of great local photographer like Louis PangRobin Ng, Ian Chong, Jon Low and many many more I’ve also had the opportunity to meet greet and talk to international ones like Jerry Ghionis and CM Leung. I must admit it was a definately a great honor and pleasure to be able to talk to these people. I’ve been wanting to meet Jerry since I saw Masters of Wedding Photography and since then have fallen in love with the way he does his work. Hopefully next year I’ll get to meet Joe Mcnally who would be in KL for a workshop and seminar.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the ones beside me for their support and chance to grow my career in photography. Oh I must not forget the wonderful brides and grooms who I’ve shot too…without the chance to shoot your wedding I would not be who I am today or have grown to who I am. Thank you once more for entrusting me with probably the biggest event of your life, and you and your other half be bless with the joys of life.

I’ve decided to be a little more active next year in photography, not in terms of getting more jobs but in terms of using the camera more. With that I would TRY to take a picture a day and post it on flickr and maybe my blog. Hopefully I could successfully have a complete 365 album.

With that I would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year and may the coming year be better for all of us, I know I may have missed you many many names but it doesn’t I do not appreciate you help, advise or your presence in my life. You know who you are if you know me :)

Cutie Pet Fair 2009

November 22, 2009

I know this is a photography blog but I’m doing this for the sake of these beautiful pups which need a home. There’s this Cutie Pet Fair in Central Park in Bandar Utama (just beside 1 Utama) and there are some dog associations there which are offering pet adoptions. One of them is Malaysia Dogs Deserve Better and House of Happy Furmily. These 2 association or group may not be well known and to be honest even I am not aware of them till recently. I’m doing them a favor as I feel these dogs deserve a hand from us animal lovers and to play our small parts lets try to adopt or at least donate a few ringgit to them.

cutie pet fair

Details are on this poster, do drop by if you have some free time to check out the pet adoption :)

These dogs can be adopted with a low fee of RM50.00, so do help out in providing these lovable darlings a home and I’m sure they will be faithful and thankful to your deeds.

April here is suffering from some heart issues, her medical fee is around RM100.00 ++ per month, If you happen to drop by please do donate something to House of Happy Furmily. One thing I like bout them is they do not set a limit or minimum requirement to the donation..so do your part and have some sympathy to these poor sick dogs and donate as much as you can :)

Discovering the Apple

October 15, 2009

mbp01

So about 2 weeks back I made an investment in getting a new notebook. It’s been some time since my last upgrade and I’ve decided to try out Apple, or some would refer it as Macintosh. There were several reason that made me consider this slight “jump” from a windows environment to a mac. One was it was said and claimed to be more stable and somewhat virus free. The mac does have its’ own virus but they don’t have that many compared to windows. But what really attracted me the most was when I was previewing the new OS X - Snow Leopard (version 10.6) which fascinated me as I saw things working fast and all.

So I’m sure you’ll be asking now..so what does this have to do with photography? Well…to share how I did my assignment with almost 0 knowledge on how things work on a mac..I manage to install programs and deliver my slides/pictures and present my work to my client in this a matter of days after buying the mac.

Oh I also forgot to mention that I went to the mac for 1 very important reason…the “wholesome” factor. In macs you pretty much can do most of your stuff from right out of the box. If you purchase one now you get Ilife which has idvd, imovie, iphoto, garage band and iweb. I’ve seen garage band in action and I do write some songs on my own last time..it’s really impressive with how easy it is to use. Idvd is also awesome for making dvd and it doesn’t take long. Along side with the other application it really makes the mac a complete multimedia machine for those who wants to create simple videos, blogs, web pages and almost everything related to media.

There’s of course some bad points which i find it really annoying, the wireless device isn’t very strong. I’m getting constant disconnection at my home in certain areas. But overall it has been a good experience and now I see why the influence of mac is getting stronger among others.

For those who wish to get themselves a macbook pro for photography usage. I would say the minimal 2 GB ram isn’t really enough if you’re concern with speed. I think moving to 4GB would be better as I run lightroom 2.5 and also photoshop cs4.

Oh oh before I forget, you know notebook these days don’t give you a windows cd or dvd when you buy a new one now? Usually they come with a recovery disc that has some bundled junk in them. I’ve tested some brands lately, Toshiba, Acer, HP and IBM’s and I must say I don’t fancy any of them anymore. Reason to this is because most of the time they take too long just to reinstall a simple operating system, and what made me furious the other day was Acer recovery disc had the wrong drivers loaded on to them! So I’m forced to redownload the drivers from the internet..so what if I have not internet?

Mac hasn’t gave me this problem so far and mine doesn’t come with a recovery disc. I hope they maintain this as this would make me a life long supporter if they do.

Ok probably enough promotion here and here some slick looking pictures taken from my bedroom.

To sum it up, it’s been a good experience so far being able to do most stuff on my mac without worrying about installing, finding and knowing which programs to work with which. Most programs are able to work with each other so it’s good and best of all things are made simple, so anyone can just pick up and produce professional looking work.

With this I end my sales pitch, I wonder if apple will send me some new stuff to test *hint hint*

I was driving back and saw a full moon, so why not capture this moment :) I guess there isn’t much to say

A guest at my home

March 4, 2009

My mother seem to have luck in finding abandon birdie’s the last time she found one which was very young and could not fly at all. Poor baby must have fell from it’s nest or something and I got no idea how my mother found it. It stayed for about 3 days or so and finally gave up living its life. We tried to feed it but I guess it was more heart broken and home sick.

bbird_closeup9
Not too sure what kind of bird it is, but it looked like a crow

This time my mother found a smaller size bird..which is almost as long as my middle finger…but this time I think its one of those lil brown sparrows around. It’s definately smaller but it seems to be older and much more mature, with its’ feather all grown and all. It cold also fly a lil now. So far it’s been good and still surviving. Before today we had to force it to eat by placing the food in its mouth but today he’s already eating on his own…and it also responds to my mothers call. It would fly to her hands when its being called…which is quite cute and suprising. :)

here’s the pics of this lil fellow…we’ve not given him a name yet.

Colours Of Kuala Lumpur

February 19, 2009

Went up to the hill side of Hulu Langat today, was a really cloudy day till KL tower disappeared in the haze or clouds and twin towers barely showing itself. Sunset wasn’t that beautiful…and I find myself looking at this hazy city I call home.

I could go for a holiday, I could leave the country to study, to work whenever I return home…this city which most would say is polluted and noisy and the lifestyle is hectic would be the place I call home and feel the most comfortable and safe. Regardless of how bad things are ironically it’s always assuring to know I am home…

Would my home still be beautiful if my visions were clouded?
