I would like to introduce a new service that I’ve been wanting to explore for a while now, Pet photography. For those animal lovers out there like me who love to capture pictures of you love one, here’s a chance to get a professional to capture you and your love ones/family in a casual and fun portrait session.

Here are some pictures of Dydee with her 3 fun and active dogs playing around the park. I love how the dogs are allowed to run free and have fun in parks…really hope that there are more dog parks in KL.

It’s been a while since I posted wedding pictures so I’ll be posting a little more from now on I guess. All shots from this post are my shots that was taken with the awesomely tall Andy Chin from Andy Chin Studio. Thanks a lot Andy for the opportunity to work with you on this pre wedding session.

The day started off with a great breakfast and heavy downpour, but thank god it kind of stopped a little when we reached our first venue, Ker Shing and Stanley went on though it was drizzling…you guys were great! Later we moved on to a place known as the Malaysian On Tree Hill. Seriously I didn’t know bout this place till I got there and was like.. “ahhh….so this is why its called one tree Hill”  Thanks again to Andy for the opportunity, Ker Shing and Stanley I hope you guys had as much fun as I did.

If I recall correctly we planned this photo walk a month or two back back where we photographer would go for a trip and take portrait pictures of each other since we are always taking pictures for people there wasn’t any one who would do the same for us. So Edwin set the date and the rest just came if they could. It was more of a casual and relax thing for most of us as we weren’t working with out camera’s. Here are my favorite shots from the outing.

I have to say the next picture gives me a nostalgic feeling as Genting Highlands was one of those places where every parent would bring their kid and yet they would have a fuzzy memory of the place. I remember over enjoying myself till I would get nightmares at night…hehe and this old building would always have a place in my mind.

I’ve been searching this baby for quite a while now and most places I find would charge me quite an expensive price for a poorly maintained body. Finally I found this near mint condition Canon AE-1. Some people ask me why am I going backwards instead of forward with the latest BIG megapixel camera and all, well it’s a pretty simple answer… I’m curious and I would love to dig down deeper into the roots of photography to actually know the difference (the not so obvious ones) and go through the pain of missing shots and having to spend money on film.

The camera built is awesome, really feels tough and quite heavy for its size. It’s fully metal I think? Not sure what material was use for its “metal” areas. For a camera that was made in 1971, this condition is awesome, not to mention the metering still works. Here are some pictures of the camera I would like to share with you guys out there. Oh yea.. I’ve finally made the mode to a full frame camera… :P just that it’s in analog format not digital…haha

my new name card

June 14, 2010

I’ve not been giving out my name cards since the 1st batch of print was all depleted reason cos the 2nd batch had some printing errors and all. I’m not really a very picky person nor am I a really fussy person (i think) but yea..giving a card which I wasn’t even proud of was really not something I would do so  I would tell people I ran out of cards, which is partially the truth.

So over the weekend I got my new stock of cards and boy am I happy with it..Patrick from My Colorful Memories did a wonderful job and not to mention gave me a really good quality card. So here’s my chance to show off a lil my new card :D

Do ask me for one when you see me :D

Just recently I was given a chance to do a baby portrait with Pei Chyi’s and David’s one month old baby Zachary. I must say it was quite fun and challenging at the same time. Lil Zach was very cooperative throughout the whole session and would fall asleep and wake up on demand..totally awesome! how many babies do you know could sleep and be awaken and not be cranky?

David is an online marketer (i think?) who helps people with their business online..do check out his blog at http://blogjunkie.net for a more accurate idea of what he does :P

Red Ninja Camp

April 26, 2010

I’m back from boot camp! Haha…it really feels weird calling it boot camp but in a way it’s somehow like that. I would say it was really fun and I had a good time there, though I had to stay up late abit to do some editing.

If you were following me on twitter, a month or two back then I said I was running dry on my shots and pretty much not feeling the mojo being there anymore. I guess god has his eyes on me…Redninja.tv brought down Wiki Lee who’s also the founder of Foto Expression. Somehow during camp my mojo came back and my mind has been refreshed once again.

Camp wasn’t all talk and no action, we were given individual task and also group task. The individual task was more like a pre-wedding shoot with an actual couple. I got to work with Rachel and Ser Young which were awesome and cool to work with. Here are the 5 pictures that we were required to submit.

The group project was to come up with a slide show that would show the personality of our group members and this is what we came up with. Out of our expectation we actually manage to get first place. I bet the judges had a hard time figuring out which would they picked as the other groups work were awesome as well.

group members were : Andrew Chow, Teng Wei, Jonathan Tan and ofcourse yours truely Benjamin Lim. All shots were an equal contribution of all members.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jon Low from Jon Low Studios for his mentoring and guidance. Not to forget Wiki himself and his wife Ilona for their superb personal attention.

Lastly all the beautiful pictures wouldn’t be anything if it wasn’t for the marlevous bride and groom, Rachel and Ser Young. Thank you so much for being our models and being commanded by us..haha. Thank you as well Shinny Ong for your awesome skills in make up and hair making the bride and groom look their best. Lastly to Pretty in White for the wonderful looking dresses.

Francessca Birthday shoot

December 23, 2009

A friend invited me to her birthday party last weekend. She celebrated her birthday earlier as her birthday fell on a weekday, so I have the honor of being the “photographer” for the joyful occasion. I thought it would be nice if I could give her a little gift by compiling some shots in to a photo montage.

The party was held in 7atenine which was the same building as Ascott Kuala Lumpur. It was my first time there and infact was my first time hearing of the place. Food was pretty alright and the place was a nice chill out spot.

Canon Malaysia had a sports photography workshop last weekend, Sunday. The talked was held in Sepang and conducted by Ruddie Khaw. Since I’ve not shot in Sepang before and there was a workshop which would give me a chance to walk down the pits…so why not?

The weather was awesome that day, hot and cloudy at certain areas.

We then got to go to the pits..which was really cool..I’ve not been there before..so yea..it’s cool for me

Over the weekend I attended ShootFest which was an unconference meetup with photography enthusiast. Basically there were talks and discussion and educational stuff on photography related issues (in this case the talks were more on weddings). If you want more information on ShootFest just visit their site at http://shootfest.org/.

To be honest this has been the most educational and fun weekend I’ve had with other photographers. I would say I’ve learn alot and also hopefully managed to share some of my knowledge with other people.  The environment was very er…how to say, hmm educational?and at the same time motivational? People were participating and asking and asnwering questions which you don’t normally get when there’s a talk/seminar like thing happening. So this kept the spirit up I guess.

Besides that I think the best part is that people were willing to share their thoughts, techniques, methods and workflow of their work. It’s definately very interesting to see how professionals do their work and it does help to improve yours or atleast it has helped me identified my flaw in my workflow.

Some of the professional speakers were Grace Tan, Jenny Sun, Jon Low, Fiona Lim, Zach Chin and many more, you can check out the schedule here

so here’s some of the pictures :

For more detailed write up Mark Leo has some pretty good coverage on it for Day 1 and Day 2. Feel free to drop by his blog.

I took part in the Karaoke Power Point which is basically a game of BS (Bull Shit), you’re given a set of slides to present which you’ve not seen before and you are suppose to present it like you know it.

mine was to convince people that advertising is dead…oh dear..
