Back last year July some industry colleagues and friends decided to go for a trip to Yogyakarta Indonesia or it’s also known as Jogjakarta. It’s was a trip for me to take a break from the usual wedding shoots that I’ve been doing and also from my day job at that moment. I did not really do any research on Jogja prior to arriving there, but from what I read and gathered from the visit it’s really a beautiful place with a rich culture and heritage. Upon arrival you can still see a strong sense of Javanese culture and there were alot of street stalls that sell pottery and statues.
Borobudur temple is one of the main attraction here at Jogja, it’s also said to be the world’s largest Buddhist archeological site. The walls of the temple are carved and engrave with really beautiful imageries which is simply just beautiful. Coming from a person who has no idea bout history and architecture. There were certain parts of the temple that was damage due to earth quakes and volcano eruption, but restoration was undergoing.
The following shot below was submitted for Portrait category in WPPM 2012. This shot was taken in Borobudur and it shows the beautiful details that is on the wall.
This was another shot at Borobudur temple during sunset time. I have to say sunset at the peak of the hill was certainly breath taking. It could be a challenge there to take a good shot of the sunset as there are many tourist around. This was a shoot that I manage to take during that day. I submitted this print under Landscape category and manage to get 1st Runner-up for WPPM 2012.
